Why AI Test Generation Without Execution is Worthless
Generating a test is the cheap part. Any model can turn a user story into a plausible-looking script in seconds. The expensive, valuable part is proving that the script actually runs — green on a real browser, a real device, against your real build — and stays green tomorrow.
Generation is a demo; execution is a product
A generated test you never run is a guess. It may reference a selector that doesn't exist, assume a flow that changed last sprint, or pass only because it asserts nothing meaningful. Until it executes, you have text that looks like testing, not testing.
Close the loop, or don't bother
The teams that get value from AI testing treat generation and execution as one loop: author, run, read the failure, heal, re-run. The agent that writes the test is the same one that watches it fail and fixes the selector. That feedback is where confidence comes from.
This is why TestCopilot never stops at a script. Every generated test is executed on real infrastructure, triaged when it fails, and self-healed when the UI drifts — so what lands in your suite is a test that works, not a test that merely compiles.
